WORK WITH THE MODERN REP
AUDITIONS
THE MODERN REP seeks Actors’ Equity Association and non-union actors for the upcoming production of PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD by J.M. Synge. The available roles are male; actors of all gender identities comfortable playing male-presenting roles are welcome to audition. Actors of all races/ethnicities are welcome to audition. Actors able to play musical instruments highly encouraged to attend!
Auditions will be held on Wednesday, September 9 from 12-8pm; callbacks as needed will be held on Friday, August 11. Auditions and callbacks will be held at THE MODERN REP’s space at 901 North 3rd Street, Suite 156, Minneapolis 55401.

Please prepare either one longer monologue or two short contrasting pieces; audition material should be under five minutes total. Playboy of the Western World is written in a heightened text, as well as an Irish vernacular. Please do not prepare hyper-contemporary text. No Shakespeare. If you have a monologue with an Irish dialect, please bring it in!

SUBMISSIONS
THE MODERN REP is hiring assistant directors for three upcoming productions. These assistant director positions are opportunities to observe and participate in the creative process, collaborating with TMR artistic director Grant Sorenson and other production and creative staff.
The assistant director will be contracted from the first rehearsal through opening night of the production; attendance at pre-production meetings is optional. Once rehearsals begin, duties may include taking notes for directing team, dramaturgical research and support, assisting stage management, pre- and post-rehearsal set up and strike, tracking blocking, working with actors on memorization and blocking review, and running errands.
